How to use GtkRadiant with Quake or Tenebrae 1.x
Previous: The required files + Index + Next: Install GtkRadiant
Pre-install set-up
NOTE: In the following and throughout this how-to, replace d:\ with the hard-drive that you have your copy of quake installed into. Also, if you have a space in any of your file paths somethings (like compiling the maps) may become harder later. It is best to move your quake folder to the root level (like below) of a hard drive.

Make the following folder structure.

  • d:\quake3\baseq3 (only required if you do not have Quake 3 installed)
  • d:\quake\Radiant
  • d:\quake\id1\maps (you may already have this folder)
  • d:\quake\id1\scripts
  • d:\quake\id1\textures
  • d:\quake\id1\textures\q1_base
  • d:\quake\id1\textures\q1_medieval
  • d:\quake\id1\textures\q1_metal
  • d:\quake\id1\textures\q1_wizard
  • d:\quake\id1\textures\q1_start
  • d:\quake\id1\utils
  • d:\quake\id1\utils\mapconverter
  • d:\quake\id1\models (only required if you want to use the optional md3 editor pack)
NOTE: If you are only interested in mapping for Tenebrae, replace id1 with tenebrae in the folders above and throughout this how-to.
